|enjoy it while it lasts|
While it's still incredibly early in the 2014 recruiting cycle, it's been a rough five years as a Volunteers fan, so I'm going to enjoy this while I can. Unless they land a couple of 5-star recruits, I can see them falling to a Top-15 recruiting class considering a lot of the teams in the Top 10 are without any of the 5-star recruits.
Even if the Vols do fall a couple of spots, this momentum, led by first-year head coach Butch Jones, certainly gives me hope for the future of the program. It would be an astounding accomplishment for him and his staff if they continue this momentum in recruiting considering the Volunteers went 5-7 the last two years.
The Vols have had losing records four out of the last five seasons. The best record, 7-6, was during Lane Kiffin's sole year at the helm. That season included a Peach Bowl blow out from Virginia Tech and a close loss against Alabama.
This recruiting class, and their final ranking, all depends on how well the Vols perform on the field this season. While I don't think there's a number that will make or break this recruiting class, save for a complete team meltdown or horrible scandal, a winning record or extremely competitive season will definitely help the recruiting effort.
